Dear Editor: I respectfully disagree with The Tablet’s position on the recent NFL protests. The editorial asserts that Colin Kaepernick, formerly a San Francisco 49ers quarterback, and his ilk, refuse to stand for the National Anthem because of a perceived disdain they have for both flag and country.
Nothing can be further from the truth. They have asserted, time and time again, that they are protesting police misconduct in black and brown communities. In kneeling, the NFL players are saying that America’s promises of liberty, justice, and equality are not yet realized for all her citizens.

Dear Editor: Kudos for the excellent and logical presentation of the facts associated with showing respect for our National Anthem.
Those who choose to take a knee have no standing in my book.
