The Junior Ladies of Charity from St. John’s Prep, Astoria, met other New York State chapters in a mini-assembly in Albany, N.Y. The students also visited the Daughters of Charity retirement facility, St. Louise Home. There is a large oak tree behind the residence, originally planted by the founder of the Ladies of Charity, St. Vincent de Paul, nearly 400 years ago with acorns collected from a tree in France. The students now have acorns of their own that will be planted on the Crescent Street campus.
