For the first time in school history, The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates, varsity tennis team captured the GCHSAA state championship Oct. 23 at the College of Staten Island.

The Hilltoppers, undefeated during the regular season, won all five matches over archdiocesan champion St. Joseph Hill, Staten Island.

Mary Louis had reached the state finals the two previous seasons, so for the team, the third time was the charm.
