Camels, kings and colorfully outfitted kids descended upon Williamsburg Jan. 10 for the annual Gran Parada Tres Reyes Magos Brooklyn (Great Three Kings Parade of Brooklyn). Public schools, police officers and performers all marched in honor of the Feast of the Epiphany, which in Latin America is celebrated with great vigor. Although the feast day was celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 3 in the U.S., it is traditionally celebrated on Jan. 6. In Spanish-speaking countries students are still off from school and children anticipate gifts from the Wise Men. In Brooklyn, children showed their enthusiasm for the Wise Men by dancing and displaying hand-made posters at the parade. All Saints parishioners joined their neighbors at the public event, bringing with them a statue of Mary and the baby Jesus, under the title Our Lady, Mother of Divine Providence.
