Three Franciscan Brothers Marking 50 Years in Order

Three Franciscan brothers are celebrating their 50th anniversaries as members of the Order. They are:

Brother Bill

Brother William Boslet, O.S.F., was a parishioner of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Hicksville, L.I., when he entered the Franciscan Brothers on July 1, 1966 and professed first vows on Jan. 6, 1968.

He taught French at St. Francis Prep, Williamsburg, in the 1970s before being named director of youth ministry in the Diocese of Bridgeport, Conn.

He returned to St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, 1983-86, when he served as vocation director for the Order. From 1992 to 1998, he served as the alumni director and student activities director at St. Francis Prep.

In 1999, he was appointed vicar for religious in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, a post he held until his election as superior general of the Franciscans in 2007.

Since leaving that office in 2015, he has been assistant to the president of St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights.

Brother Leonard

Brother Leonard Conway, O.S.F., entered the Franciscan Brothers from Holy Name of Jesus parish, Windsor Terrace, on July 1, 1966 and professed first vows on Jan. 6, 1968.

He taught mathematics at St. Francis Prep, located in Williamsburg beginning in 1971. Each summer from 1977 to 1989, he was director of Camp Alvernia, L.I.

In 1979 he was appointed director of computer services St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, a position he held until 1983 when he became principal of St. Francis Prep in 1983, a post he held for 30 years.

He currently serves as president of St. Francis Prep.

Brother Robert

Brother Robert Kent, O.S.F., entered the Franciscan Brothers from Holy Name of Jesus parish, Windsor Terrace, in 1966 and professed first vows on Jan. 6, 1968.

He taught in the social studies department at St. Francis Prep, Williamsburg, beginning in 1968.

In 1971, he was appointed director of athletics at St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, a position he held until 1998.

He currently serves as alumni director for St. Francis Prep.

  1. What ever happened to Brother Pius who was my teacher at St. Leonard’s Academy at 26 Brevoort Place, Brooklyn, NY. I graduated in 1957.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
