Youth Views: Who is your inspiration and why?
My inspiration is my father because he keeps on pushing me to become a better person academic-wise and also athletically. It’s hard to keep up grades while playing sports weekly, but my dad tells me the only way I will get better is to practice and study hard.
Youth Views: What makes you truly happy and why?
Being around friends and family makes me truly happy. Our time on Earth will not last forever so making sure my family and friend connections are strong is very important. Having good friends and family makes me feel really happy.
Youth Views: How Are You Observing the Jubilee Year of Mercy?
My family and I observe the Year of Mercy by incorporating patience and reflection throughout each day. When the stress level is high, we suppress it by asking God for patience in our hearts, while always reflecting on our true values and intentions.

TMLA’s Mariel Is Top Scorer At Tablet’s HS Press Awards
Every year, The Tablet invites all Catholic high school newspapers in the diocese to participate in a friendly competition. The editorial staff reads all submissions and chooses winners based on the quality of the work and how it serves the student body. The ceremony was a chance to honor the work of the young journalists as they strive to promote the values of truth and justice through student journalism.
