Keeping traditions alive is what Brooklyn’s Three Kings Parade is all about.
Williamsburg finally celebrated its 21st annual Three Kings Parade Jan. 21, after having to reschedule because of frigid temperatures on Jan. 7.
The arctic temperatures, harsh winds and snow that visited the diocese before and during Epiphany weekend canceled events, closed schools and brought down Mass attendance somewhat, but did not bring too much long-term damage according to a sample of parishes interviewed.
As we began a new year, Haitians observed New Year’s Day as their Independence Day and they celebrated by drinking pumpkin soup. This coming weekend, Hispanics mark the Feast of the Epiphany. Part of that celebration will be the Parade of the Three Kings with live camels in Williamsburg.
