SJU Has Record-Breaking Year With Relay for Life Fundraiser

More than 1,800 St. John’s University students raised a record $140,341 for the fight against cancer as part of the university’s 11th annual Relay For Life. The 12-hour event, which benefits the American Cancer Society (ACS), was conducted April 15 and 16 on the Jamaica campus.

As an ongoing response to the Year of Consecrated Life, St. John’s University’s Campus Ministry and the Vincentian Vocation Office commemorated the World Day of Prayer for Vocations by hosting Sisters’ Nite April 17.

Sister Mary Regina, R.G.S., (Janice Genevieve Ahearn), a Good Shepherd Sister for 74 years, died April 8 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, Mass., after a long illness. She was 97.
