People sexually abused by clergy are on a journey that can sometimes seem like two steps forward and one step back. That’s according to one survivor who attended the annual Mass of Hope and Healing on Oct. 24 at St. Pancras Parish in Glendale, Queens.

Pope Francis and U.S. bishops have worked hard to combat clergy sex abuse, according to officials who said the church has made a serious effort to put the victims first even if it means publicly exposing ugly facts about crimes.
The Diocese of Brooklyn, in partnership with survivors of sexual abuse by members of the clergy, held the fourth annual Mass of Hope and Healing April 25 at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, Jamaica.
