Slain Security Guard’s Son Gets Catholic Scholarship Through Futures in Education

Aland Etienne, a security guard, was one of four people killed in a mass shooting at 345 Park Ave. in Manhattan. While grieving her first love, his wife Rachelle worried that losing his income would put Catholic education out of reach for their son Ralandy. That is, until concerned people and groups gathered to figure out how to cover his tuition.

Fond Memories of School Days Has Woman Establishing Endowment

Putting her faith in action, Patricia Faint has established a $250,000 endowment for the Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens to provide funding for children whose families need financial assistance to pay to send their children to Catholic school in the Diocese of Brooklyn.

Bishop’s Christmas Luncheon Supports Catholic Education

Almost 900 people joined Bishop Robert Brennan at Russo’s on the Bay, Howard Beach, on Dec. 7, and more than $300,000 was raised to help Catholic school students pay tuition and to assist the Diocese’s Catholic Youth Initiative.
