The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of Brooklyn and Queens hosted its annual Hall of Fame induction dinner on Feb. 13 at The Rockaway Hotel in Rockaway Park. This year marked the eighth class of CYO Hall of Famers — taking the full total of those enshrined since the inaugural 2014 event to 86 members.
The fifth annual Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Hall of Fame ceremony recognized 10 deserving individuals who dedicated their lives to youth sports in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
In his 30-year tenure as a college basketball coach, Pete Gillen racked up numerous hall of fame honors. He was recently honored here in Brooklyn by the Holy Name Foundation.
Dear Editor: Last year I read about the first inductees into the CYO Hall of Fame and my reaction was ‘I’m already there.’ I say that because there are many of us who received the Bishop Mugavero Medal from the Bishop way back in the day for helping out with our local parish sports programs.
