Dear Editor: I was quite thrilled to open this week’s Tablet and find an article about our parish celebration of our patronal feast! Children and adults of many ethnicities came together on Sunday, May 29, in Corpus Christi parish, Woodside, to express their devotion to the Holy Eucharist.

Woodside Parish Unites Around the Eucharist
Celebrating Corpus Christi at Corpus Christi parish, Woodside, Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez spoke of how culture has shifted toward an awareness of the types of food and drinks people consume. Corpus Christi is an opportunity to think about the spiritual food that can nourish the body, he explained.

65 New Lay Leaders Are Ready to Serve
The Diocese of Brooklyn commissioned 65 new lay leaders from 34 parishes at a bilingual Mass at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, Jamaica. The night was also a celebration of the years of service that catechists and ministers devoted to the Diocese of Brooklyn. Special recognition was given to Sister Alice Michael, S.U.S.C., for her 40 years of service to the diocese.

Sister Patricia Clare Barry, O.P., (Sister M. Francis Magdalen), 84, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, L.I., for 64 years, died March 28.
Sister Alice Marie Carey, O.P., was a life-long educator
Her ministry in elementary education included teaching assignments at St. Martin of Tours, Amityville; Fourteen Holy Martyrs, Bushwick; St. Ignatius, Hicksville, L.I.; Little Flower, Montauk, L.I.; St. Joseph, Kings Park, L.I.; Corpus Christi, Woodside; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Lindenhurst, L.I.; and St. Hugh of Lincoln, Huntington Station, L.I.
