Letters to the Editor

Support of Woodside Parish

Dear Editor: The family and friends of the late Major John H. Mark Jr. (U.S. Army) thank everyone who made the “Broadway Comes to Woodside” scholarship benefit performance held at Corpus Christi Church, Woodside, on April 17 a financial and theatrical success.

The performers and technical artists, organized and directed by Corpus Christi’s music director, Matt La Banca, were spectacular. Parishioners and friends of Major Mark were in agreement that the performance was most certainly of “Broadway” quality. It was gratifying to hear so many people asking when the next extravaganza would be offered.

A special thanks is offered to those friends and parishioners who honored Major Mark’s memory by supporting Corpus Christi parish and the Major John H. Mark, Jr., Manhattan College Study Abroad Scholarship. Several of Major Mark’s close family (Aunt Cathy) and friends (Karen) ensured success by donating overflowing gift baskets. Local businesses including The Brewery, Plaka, and In Vino Veritas, generously contributed prizes.

Angela and I thank and appreciate the comfort and support provided us by Father Patrick West during this entire, difficult time. His enthusiasm and generosity made the “Broadway Comes to Woodside” benefit possible.

JOHN H. MARK, SR.
