Announcing the Brooklyn/Queens CHSFL All-Star Team for 2024, CHSAA Girls’ All-League Teams

After another competitive season of Catholic High School Football League action, The Tablet’s Brooklyn/Queens CHSFL All-Star team is back. Players were selected from the four high schools that field football teams in the diocese: Christ the King H.S., Middle Village; Holy Cross H.S., Flushing; St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows; and Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge. Special thanks to the league’s coaches for providing nominations and statistics.

Outdoor, High-Risk Sports Can Resume for Local Catholic High Schools

The New York City Department of Health (DOH) has given clearance for outdoor competitive play for high-risk sports to resume across the city in mid-April. This includes competitive team practices, games, scrimmages, meets, matches, and tournaments for football and contact lacrosse.

A number of CHSFL players represented New York City in the 24th annual Empire Challenge, hosted by former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason’s foundation for cystic fibrosis.

Ex-Holy Cross Star Signs NFL Contract

Holy Cross H.S. alumnus Devon Cajuste, who played his college football as a wide receiver at Stanford University, Calif., recently signed a professional contract with the San Francisco 49ers, making him one of 12 undrafted free agents signed by the NFL team.
