With the government shutdown more than a month old, volunteers unpacked thousands of dollars worth of food at St. Benedict the Moor Church in Jamaica, for a special effort organized by Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens.

Toy Giveaway Spreads Cheer to Local Families

Approximately 675 local families were “able to be blessed” through Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens’ Christmas toy giveaways in December. The unique events gave parents and grandparents the chance to pick out an item for each of their children or grandchildren.

Bishop’s Christmas Luncheon

Bishop DiMarzio Leads Catholics, Buddhists to Meet with Pope on Green Affordable Housing

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio led a group of Catholic and Buddhist leaders from Brooklyn, Chicago, Ill., and Los Angeles, Calif., at a meeting with Pope Francis Sept. 12. The delegation presented the Holy Father with sustainable projects they are working on that will provide affordable housing to serve vulnerable populations, like the elderly and formerly homeless.
