St. Edmund Prep Holds ‘Dig Pink’ For Breast Cancer Research in Brooklyn

St. Edmund Prep High School in Sheepshead Bay continued its decade-long “Dig Pink” tradition, raising funds for breast cancer research through bake sales, raffles, and volleyball matches. Led by senior captain Kaleigh Klein, the student-athletes and faculty united to support the Side-Out Foundation and promote awareness that early detection saves lives.

Grateful her cancer was caught early, Melissa Ortiz has now made it her mission to raise awareness of the importance of early detection. She organized a special prayer service at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Oct. 21 to drive home her message.
