Dear Editor: Your tribute to the late Bishop Thomas V. Daily was wonderful and proclaiming him the pro-life leader was right on. I attended the Mass of Christian Burial for Bishop Daily and found it to be spiritually uplifting.

During the official three days of mourning for the late Bishop Emeritus Thomas V. Daily, there were many stories told about the bishop, the priest, the man.

Bishop Daily was a “street-priest” in the best sense of the word, always putting the needs of the people he served at the forefront of any action he took or decision he made.
Shortly after Bishop Thomas V. Daily was appointed to the Diocese of Brooklyn, he encouraged Msgr. Phillip Reilly and the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants to pray at the places where abortions are performed and to offer help to the women who were considering aborting their babies.
Bishop Emeritus Thomas V. Daily, who served as the sixth Ordinary Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn from 1990 to 2003, died at 12:02 a.m. on Monday, May 15. He was 89 years old and had been in failing health.
