OLHpreK2014Another Awesome Afternoon in Pre-K

Pre-kindergartners are learning that the letter “A” starts words like apple, ant, alligator and amazing – the latter being a perfect way to describe their first few days at Our Lady of Hope School, Middle Village.

On a recent day, pre-k teacher Larissa Martincic, left, read an apple-themed book, and then boys and girls colored worksheets and made bright red letter “A” signs – each decorated with little apples.

GoGold_XHS2014Going Gold at Xaverian

Students from both Xaverian’s middle school program, Genesis, and high school in Bay Ridge joined forces this fall to “Go Gold” to raise awareness of pediatric cancer in memory of Frankie Loccisano, who lost his battle during his junior year at Xavieran H.S. in 2007. The effort was spearheaded by Frankie’s mother, Camille Orrichio-Loccisano, who runs Frankie’s Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to families touched by childhood cancer. The Genesis Program’s Student Leadership Council cut over 400 yards of gold ribbon and worked with the high schoolers to hang the ribbon around the school’s exterior. Photo courtesy Xaverian
