SAA Artists Dominate Local Contest

Fourth through seventh grade students at St. Andrew Avellino School (SAA), Flushing, were big winners in the annual art contest sponsored by the Edward F. McGoldrick branch of the Queens Public Library in Flushing. The branch was named after the founding pastor of St. Andrew Avellino parish, who was alsoa library trustee.
With the theme, Dig Into Reading, the contest was open to all Flushing-area schools. Although hundreds of children submitted artwork, only 20 winners were selected, including 11 from SAA School. Each winner will receive a certificate and their artwork will be framed and displayed in the library for the coming year. SAA School art teacher Susan DeLeon, front, is shown with the winning student-artists.
