Martha Hennessy, granddaughter of Dorothy Day, will speak at the next Tablet Forum on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. at St. Sebastian Church, Woodside. Tickets are not necessary. Admission is free.
Martha Hennessy, a mother and grandmother, lives with her husband on a small farm in Vermont. She is the seventh grandchild of Dorothy Day, co-founder of the Catholic Worker movement. She works part-time as an occupational therapist and participates in resistance work against nuclear power and war, Guantanamo Bay Prison Camp and the siege of Gaza. She has traveled to Russia, England, Mexico, Iraq, Egypt, Iran and around the U.S., learning about social and economic conditions.
She will talk about growing up with her grandmother’s influence and how the Catholic Worker communities are continuing the works of mercy today.
All are welcome.
