Dear Editor: With the recent election of Donald Trump, it has been reported that donations to Planned Parenthood have soared. Unfortunately, the lie of making abortions “safe, legal and rare” disseminated by the Democrats and Liberals is definitely a fallacy.
First of all, if Democrats/Liberals wanted to make abortions rare, they would not donate money to organizations such as Planned Parenthood which destroy innocent lives, rather they would donate to organizations that offer women a true alternative.
There are several organizations in New York City that do wonderful work such as Bridge to Life (Bridge Women’s Support Center) and EMC Frontline that help women who are seeking a true alternative to abortion and want to give birth to their child, making abortion rare.
Unfortunately, the organizations that truly help women receive little or no support from the government. They rely on donations, and typically do not charge women seeking this alternative for their services. As such they survive on a shoestring budget to stay afloat.
As we approach the 44th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade which made abortion the law of the land in this great country of ours, I would like to remind my fellow Catholics that we should be outraged by the 60 million abortions performed over the last 44 years.
I would hope that The Tablet gives the March for Life (MFL) scheduled to be held on Friday Jan. 27, the coverage it deserves.
I also urge anyone who can make the trip to participate. You would not only be surprised but you would have hope since most of the participants are young, not the old out of touch members of society that the media portrays Pro-Lifers to be.
For the last 12 years or so, I have witnessed the mobilization of Pro-Lifers at the MFL from throughout the country to let our government know how they feel. Every year approximately 300,000 – 500,000 people gather in Washington, D.C. for this event. Unfortunately, the media ignores this event. I hope the Tablet makes up for this snub!

Editor’s Note: As you know, Tom, The Tablet is always on the scene at the March for Life and is one of the few newspapers that recognizes the significance of this annual event.
