Sister Mary Ellis (Sister Aloysia Maria), S.C., 96, who entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1937, died March 26 at St. Patrick’s Home, the Bronx.
Her first assignment and her only one in the Brooklyn Diocese was when she taught at St. Charles Borromeo School, Brooklyn Heights, 1939-44.
In addition to teaching in the Archdiocese of New York, she also was the librarian at Elizabeth Seton Academy in Yonkers and she served in various positions at St. Patrick Villa, Nanuet, and St. Vincent Hospital in Harrison.
Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
