Sister Frances McCool, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I., for 59 years, died Nov. 7 in Syosset Hospital, Syosset, L.I.

She entered the congregation from St. Joseph parish, Brooklyn. She earned her bachelor’s degree education at Brentwood College and her master’s at Brooklyn College.

Formerly Sister St. Leonard, she taught at St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands, 1960-64; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Williamsburg, 1964-75, St. Joseph’s H.S., Downtown Brooklyn, 1980-82, and 1983-84.

She was principal of Queen of All Saints, Fort Greene, 1975-80, and 1984-91; St. Agnes, Cobble Hill, 1982-83; Holy Name, Park Slope, 1991-94; St. Rita, Long Island City, 1994-96.

Her ministry continued in Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dyker Heights, 1996-2007; the Sisters of St. Joseph Administration Offices, Brentwood, 2007-09; and St. Francis Xavier parish, Park Slope, 2009-2015.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Chapel, Brentwood, Nov. 13. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
