The Results Are In! 1,800 Local Students Depict ‘Christ Is Risen’ (art and photos)

The Tablet received a record shattering 1,800 entries for the annual Christ Is Risen Student Art Contest. Entries came in all shapes and sizes from throughout Brooklyn and Queens. More than 50 schools and religious programs participated, and even more entries came in from individual homes.

Every piece of art was looked at and evaluated. Judges looked at artistic ability, but more importantly judges looked at how well the spirit of Easter was depicted in each piece of art. Seven judges from DeSales Media, the parent company of The Tablet, cast their votes, and the artwork with the most votes won.

The Archbishop John Hughes Knights of Columbus Council once again generously invited winners to their council to present them with certificates, medals and checks. The council also invited the Sisters of Life to the awards ceremony. The Sisters thanked the students for creating beauty, because beauty can at times be a stronger force for evangelization than words. The next art contest will be the Keep Christ in Christmas Contest. Look for more information on the Youth Page about a month before Advent.
