Dear Editor: I certainly recommend reading as you referenced, William Doino Jr.’s article: “Ratzinger Rising,”dated May 8, 2017 on First Things magazine’s website.
I could not agree more with the fact mentioned in The Tablet article that Joseph Ratzinger/ Pope Benedict XVI “is a natural teacher and is in no way too convoluted and complicated for anyone who is open to learning and growing in the faith.”
His writing is clear, and speaks to the mind and heart; I am always spiritually uplifted.
Besides your recommendations for a parish group, I would like to suggest the following as an introduction: his weekly teachings at the general audiences during his pontificate are available in book form.
I also very much enjoy reading and reflecting on: “Co-Workers of the Truth – Meditations for Every Day of the Year,” “Benedictus – Day by Day with Pope Benedict XVI” to start and end my day.
I think that all of the above are a great introduction to the writings which reveal the mind and soul of Pope Benedict. We have been truly blessed.
