Continuing the Vincentian TraditionJLOC-and-seniors-chatting-with-resident_CMYK

Junior Ladies of Charity and their classmates from St. John’s Prep, Astoria, and St. John’s University students joined forces for a day of service at St. Joachim and Anne’s Nursing Home in Coney Island.

In the morning, the group visited and chatted with residents, and then played board games and Trivial Pursuit.

After a walk on the boardwalk, Prep students and members of the university’s Sunday choir performed a concert and sing-along. They were led by Kim Oler, director of the university’s glee club and choirs. It was a joyful presentation that was enjoyed by both the performers and the audience.

No Shortage of Creativity At St. Edmund Preparatory

IMG_6490_CMYLFreshmen recently attended a club fair at St. Edmund Prep, Sheepshead Bay, to see what clubs they would like to join this year.

The prep has over 25 clubs to choose from including art, robotics, theater, yoga, photography, savings and investments, tech club and the math club.

The club fair was coordinated by David Kirk, religion teacher, and Susan Moquin, English teacher.

One of the main attractions was to see the Edmund robot as it made its way around the room.

Bridget Hart, a sophomore who is in the robotics club, helped students navigate the robot.

Other attractions included watching videos of both Edmund Play Productions and Edmund News Team which is on YouTube and the school’s website.
