Sister Frances Veronica Ivancich, C.S.J, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 62 years, died at Maria Regina Residence, Nov. 14. S
he entered the congregation on Sept. 6, 1951 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Sunset Park. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business from St. John’s University and Fordham University, respectively, she began her ministries in business education.
Formerly Sister Maria Victor, she taught at Our Lady of Sorrows, Corona, 1953-61; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Astoria, 1961-64; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sunset Park, 1964-66; Holy Family, Flushing, 1966-67; St. Stanislaus Kostka, Maspeth, 1967-70; St. Martin of Tours, Bushwick, 1970-74; Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, 1986-89, and 1991-2006; and Sacred Heart Academy, Hempstead, L.I., 1989-91.
She was principal of Visitation B.V.M., Red Hook, 1974-75, and St. Vincent de Paul, Elmont, L.I., 1975-86.
Prior to her retirement to the motherhouse in 2006, she served as secretary at Bishop Kearney.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Chapel, Brentwood. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
