Obituary — Deacon Eulogio S. Dupuy

Deacon Eulogio S. Dupuy, who served at St. Gabriel’s parish, East Elmhurst, died Nov. 20 in Orlando, Fla., where he had retired. He was 79.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 24 at St. Gabriel’s Church. Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez was the main celebrant. Special concelebrants included Fathers Gioacchino Basile, Robert F. Barclay, Robert Sadlack, Edmund Brady and Msgr. Kevin B. Noone, who also preached the homily.

A native of Cuba, he was born in the town of Nuevitas Camaguey. He was ordained a deacon on May 16, 1998.

He was remembered as a man who believed in family values and serving others, said his daughter Lissette, adding that he made friends wherever he went.

Deacon Dupuy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lourdes, of Orlando, and their four children, Estela, Salvador Jr., Lissette and Damaris; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
