O’Brien Joins Diocesan Development Office

Tom O’Brien is welcomed to the diocesan development office by Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, Vicar for Development.

Brooklyn native Tom O’Brien has been appointed director of development for the Alive in Hope Foundation.
The move marks the joining of the office’s development efforts.
“We needed more focus on development, establishing new relationships with businesses and continued cultivation of our existing donors” said Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, Vicar for Development.
O’Brien will oversee the fundraising work of the Alive in Hope Foundation, Futures in Education and the Be An Angel to a Student programs.
He also will develop new relationships for the diocese by reaching out to alumni of schools in Brooklyn and Queens and getting in touch with former parishioners of the diocese through the Catholic Alumni Partnership (CAP).
O’Brien brings a 32-year career in fundraising and development, primarily with Catholic institutions.  He has conducted more than 125 individual campaigns which raised more than $100 million for parishes, schools, libraries, museums and health organizations.
He previously served as director of development for the Archdiocese of Hartford and the Diocese of Norwich.
Born in St. Agnes parish, Sackett St., Brooklyn, and raised in St. Thomas Aquinas parish, Flatlands, O’Brien is a graduate of Boston College, where his father, Tom, also attended and garnered all-Amercian honors on the basketball court.
O’Brien and his wife, Maryann have been married for 31 years and are the parents of three children, Maura, 29, Samantha, 27 and Matthew, 24.  He currently resides in Queens and is a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Forest Hills.

  1. I want to share that my son was just accepted into St. Raymond’s All Boys HS and I could not be any prouder. I will be making every attempted to ensure that he attends. However, I need the assistance that will help me pay tuition. Therefore I want to ask how can I go about scholarships assistance or even going about sponsorship.
