Innovative Education in Flushing
Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Academy (MHRCA), is a diverse school community sensitive to the cultural origins of all. The mission of MHRCA is to promote each student’s intellectual and spiritual growth grounded in a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ.
Dual Language Program
This academy has networked with several other selected Catholic schools from around the country in partnership with the Lynch School of Education at Boston College as a leader in bilingual education. Presently kindergarten through second grades are offered Mandarin and English classes in the Dual Language Program.
The academic program supports New York State Common Core standards with SMART Boards/SMART Tables integrated in all subjects. Project TIE (Training Innovative Educators) offered by St. John’s University enables the academy to prepare students to meet the challenges of the Common Core. Student support services through Title I in ESL, math, reading and counseling are offered to qualifying students. A learning lab, resource room and speech therapy are also available on site. Fine arts instruction is offered in the areas of music, band, violin, and dance.
Enrichment in math and science is offered with STEM classes. Robotics, nutrition and ecology projects provide stimulating projects for all students.
The academy has partnered with the New York Hospital Queens and the New York Cosmos for its third year in a nutrition grant.
