Two Msgr. McClancy M.H.S., East Elmhurst, varsity track runners recently set new school records.
At the New York State Championships in March, junior Sidney Gibbons set the new school record in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 7.38 seconds. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.47 seconds, a time which he set at the New York Relays during the team’s indoor season.
Crusaders’ senior Nick Blajeski set the new school record in the javelin in last week’s New York Relays with a throw of 166 feet, 10 inches. The previous mark was 162 feet, one inch set in 2008 by Christian Cardy, who went on to throw at St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights.
