May Crowning: Honoring the Blessed Virgin Around the Diocese of Brooklyn

May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ritual held during the month of May. Usually, a solemn procession takes place, which ends with the statue of the Blessed Virgin being crowned with a garland or crown of flowers. The tradition honors Mary and the “Queen of May” as the Mother of the Son of God.
