Dear Editor: Koby Bryant did not deserve a story in The Tablet. He not only raped a young girl, he savagely raped her like an animal and beat her. He does not deserve to be treated as an icon. Sad to say The Tablet printed this story glorifying him.

Editor’s note: Our coverage not only detailed that Bryant was charged with sexually assaulting a woman, but also that he maintained his innocence and the case was eventually settled. However, The Tablet’s article was not about the case; it was about his own walk in faith. The story highlighted redemption, how an athlete reached out to God in a dark moment, and took measures to repair those he hurt in the process. Many Tablet readers may not have known about that aspect of Bryant’s life.
