Knights Offer Treasure for the Kingdom

The St. Bernard Knights of Columbus Council No. 14269 made a $30,000 donation to the parish and a $5,000 donation to the academy, made possible thanks to the council’s year-round fundraising efforts. During the presentation, the Knights reaffirmed their ongoing commitment and support to the parish of St. Bernard and the community. The Knights are committed to seeing that Catholic life in Bergen Beach and Mill Basin remains vibrant and visible and that the parish remains as the center of Catholic life in this community. The Sisterhood of Catholic Women and Adolescents is proud to announce that it will be offering its second 13-week semester on fertility awareness and Catholic sexual morality. Women can sign up and learn how to chart their menstrual cycles as well as break open the beauty of God’s design for human sexuality. The free course is open to women ages 17 and older. TABLET TALK ADDENDUM: Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens (CCBQ) helped make the Three Kings Celebration at St. Brendan parish, Midwood, special. The story was featured in last week’s Tablet TALK, but did not mention that CCBQ helped sponsor the event and donated $4,000 in TD bank cards in $25 increments to the people of the parish.

Brilliant Knights

This week’s Tip of the Tablet TALK Top Hat goes to the robotics team of Our Lady of Fatima School of East Elmhurst who competed at the George Ryan FLL Qualifiers and won the Best Mechanical Design award and one of the Best Overall Performance awards which qualifies them to the NYC FIRST Lego League Championships on March 11 at the CCNY.

The team and their collaborators also won the third annual FIRST Song Parody Worldwide Competition besting 108 other, mostly high school entries, thanks in part to Tablet TALK readers who voted for the video online.
