Fallen Heroes of Waldbaum’s Fire Remembered 40 Years Later

On Aug. 2, 1978 the Waldbaum’s supermarket on Avenue Y and Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn succumbed to the flames of a raging fire. Nearly 20 firefighters were on the roof of the supermarket when it gave way, dropping 12 members into the flames.

Knights Offer Treasure for the Kingdom

The St. Bernard Knights of Columbus Council No. 14269 made a $30,000 donation to the parish and a $5,000 donation to the academy, made possible thanks to the council’s year-round fundraising efforts.

Robert E. Rambusch

Robert E. Rambusch, the noted liturgical artist, designer and recognized pioneer in the profession of liturgical design consultation, died May 23 of cardiac arrest. He was 93.

Procession In Midwood

The celebration of Corpus Christi at St. Brendan’s Church, Midwood, centered around the parish complex. Following Mass, a procession moved outdoors to the courtyard where a special altar was set for adoration.
