Dear Editor: I nearly fell off my chair when I read the conclusion of one of the letters to the editor (July 15): Speaker Ryan should be excommunicated.

Really? Have we sunk to an all-time political low that we now sit in moral judgment on decent human beings who are trying to get to the “right” – maybe not the “perfect” – resolution to this healthcare mess.

Has the writer forgotten that the former Speaker – who incidentally is also a Catholic – is an abortion apologist? Makes me cringe.
