Women touch the Holy Door at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. The Holy Doors of Rome’s four papal basilicas will be opened during the Holy Year of Mercy, which begins Dec. 8. In the Diocese of Brooklyn, the Holy Year will officially open on Sunday, Dec. 13, with the “opening” of Holy Doors at six different sites.
The Holy Doors will be located at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. James, Downtown Brooklyn; St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, Prospect Heights; Regina Pacis Basilica, Bensonhurst; St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Astoria; and St. Gerard Majella, Hollis. Full details of the celebrations will be printed in next week’s edition of The Tablet.
