Dear Editor: Thanks so much for Jim Mancari’s column (Sept. 2) on the great Gil Hodges. As a young girl, I was lucky enough to see him many times at Ebbets Field and, naturally, just loved the big Marine.

It saddens me that the Old Timers have never seen fit to elect him to the Hall, but it makes me so happy to see “young whippersnappers” like Jim help to perpetuate his legend.

Thanks for “getting” the greatness of Gilbert Raymond Hodges.
