Fix the Church of Jesus

Dear Editor: “Veni, Vidi, Vici.” (He came, He saw, He conquered). It would seem from the eye of this sinner, that Pope Francis did just this and much more. He brought God’s message of divine peace, love and mercy into the belly of the beast, a.k.a. Cuba, Washington, D.C., New York City, the U.N. and Philadelphia.

He entered into and openly tread upon the sacred ground of Satan and his disciples of darkness and they were nowhere to be found. They scurried and hid, like the cowards that they are. Those few who showed their faces, did so out of a sense of personal ego driven vanity, plus fear, and trepidation of God’s chosen messenger.

Pope Paul VI, once proclaimed, “Satan’s smoke has entered the Temple of God.” From many perspectives this is not so hard to understand and observe. I believe, that much like St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis was chosen with a special mandate by the Holy Spirit. That mandate being loud and clear “Fix My Church.” Pope Francis has and continues to vigorously and clearly embark upon this special ministry and mission.

During his recent travels, he has presented the world in a dynamic yet prayerful, humble and fully candid manner with a mere glimpse of his mission and how he will achieve it. But, while the Holy Spirit has asked him to spearhead this mission, he has also called on each of us to be His groundswell. We can and will accomplish this by the witnesses of our public lives as instruments of God’s love and courage. We can and will accomplish this by the witnesses of our public lives as messengers of Christ’s Gospel in the public square, in our families, our parishes and our communities.

The Holy Spirit will provide the means by which we will be victors. We must provide the faith and willingness to overcome our own fear, weakness and flaws. This will take courage and commitment but, if we simply, in faith, humility, trust and love, say “Yes” to God. He will do the rest.

Together with Pope Francis, we will “Fix Jesus’ Church” or we can step aside and explain later, in final judgment. This is a golden opportunity to secure our own salvation and that of our families. Don’t miss the boat.
