Dear Editor: Congratulations to Father John Garkowski on being a priest for 50 years! (“Golden Jubilarians: 12 Priests Have Been Ordained 50 Years,” May, 2016). He officiated at our wedding on May 27, 1972 at St. Andrew Avellino Church in Flushing.

We still remember the beautiful homily that you gave when you spoke about building our home on a foundation of love. We live in San Antonio, TX. My husband spent 20 years in the Air Force and taught for 21 years. I also taught and we are both retired. We have four children and six grandchildren. Thank you for your fidelity and vocation. May God continue to bless you.
