Dear Editor: I join you and your neighbors in calling for the inclusion of first baseman and manger Gil Hodges into Baseball’s Hall of Fame.

Hodges played this game the way it was supposed to be played. He showed exemplary performance, dedication and sportsmanship, a quality often not seen in today’s game.

Fans recognize him as an invaluable part of the successful Brooklyn Dodgers. Under his leadership, the N.Y. Mets went from laughingstock to ’69 World Champions.

Let’s continue the quest to get this man admitted to Cooperstown. He certainly has the credentials.
