Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio called for more dialogue with diocesan employees as he celebrated Mass Sept. 4 that opened the pastoral year. It was held at the newly renovated Holy Name of Jesus Church in Park Slope, just two blocks from the Chancery Office.
The bishop announced that he was forming a women’s advisory group from diocesan employees to give him feedback with a feminine touch. The initial group will consist of Sisters Maryanne Lopiccolo, S.C., and Alice Michael, S.U.S.C., and Joanne Weiss, Mary Ann Spitz, Maria Vesta and Jasmine Salazar.
He also announced a new initiative of holding lunch-time meetings with small groups of diocesan workers. He first will meet with workers at 310 Prospect Park West where the Chancery offices are located.
Concelebrating the liturgy were Auxiliary Bishops Octavio Cisneros, Raymond Chappetto and Paul Sanchez; Father James Massa, moderator of the curia; and other priests who work in diocesan offices.
Following Mass, there was a luncheon held in Shepherd’s Hall of Holy Name parish.
