Deacon Andres de la Rosa 77, a retired deacon of the diocese who served at St. Rita’s parish, East New York, died March 11.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 21 at St. Rita’s.  Deacon de la Rosa was ordained to the permanent diaconate on May 26, 2007.

St. Rita’s pastor Father William Chacon said that Deacon de la Rosa will be missed. “He was an excellent deacon and was involved in so much throughout the parish. He was very special and will be greatly missed. He never said no and was always willing to help. He gave so much of himself to the parish.” He is survived by his daughter Carmen Rosa.
