CSW2013: St. Bernadette School, Dyker Heights

Sixty Years of Excellence

We have much to be proud of and much for which to be grateful to God here at St. Bernadette School in Dyker Heights
We were awarded the NCLB National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award for 2008! We continue to hold this unique honor. In the past 12 years, two teachers were awarded the NCEA Distinguished Teacher Award, and our principal received the NCEA Distinguished Principal Award.
We offer a strong Catholic academic environment, where, in addition to learning about our faith and allowing it to permeate our day, we value academic achievement and reach to meet and exceed standards in all areas.
We are proud of the Class of 2012! Comprised of 35 students, 60 percent of the class was awarded over $800,000 in scholarships from Catholic high schools in the metropolitan area.
St. Bernadette School has a faculty comprised of religious sisters and dedicated lay teachers who collaborate to build a caring community based on the tenets of Jesus Christ and a strong academic foundation for its students.
A Middle States accredited school, St. Bernadette provides studies in religion and a state standard-based curriculum, as well as special content areas of Italian, technology, art, music and physical education. The curriculum is supplemented with the use of an Accelerated Reader program.
Extracurricular activities provide students with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, interests and personal talent. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in various clubs, choir, band, altar server ministry and the Aquinas Program. Gifted students are recognized via the Johns Hopkins search for talented youth and the Junior National Young Leaders Conference.
Celebrating nearly 60 years of excellence, we look forward to a future bright with promise.
