The math team from Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village, which placed second in the state last spring out of almost 160 high schools competing in the New York State Mathematics League, is currently in first place throughout the state after three monthly contests out of six scheduled.
The team is comprised of approximately 30 top math students who practice each week under the supervision of team moderator, Richard Hartman.
In the individual competition, from thousands of participating students across the state, five Christ the King students have a perfect score: seniors Stephen Lebak, Dominik Makocki, Kevin Rodriguez and Kristen Tully, and sophomore Siqing Lyu.
Throughout the last four years, Christ the King R.H.S is the only school that has placed in the top three teams consistently, having ranked first place for the 2012-13 school year.
