This year marks the 50th anniversary of Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village. The golden jubilee celebrations will begin on Friday, April 19, with a gala dinner-dance at El Caribe, Mill Basin, from 7 to 11 p.m., and continue throughout that weekend with musical performances and a celebratory Sunday Mass.
This momentous achievement is predicated on the school’s enduring commitment to its students, a commitment which extends from its inception. Christ the King R.H.S. began with two separate divisions under one roof; the girls division was taught by the Daughters of Wisdom, and the boys division was under the Marist Brothers. In 1973, the two divisions joined to become one co-educational institution.
“The 50th anniversary Jubilee of Christ the King is a testament of the strength and vision of the school,” said former State Sen. Serphin R. Maltese, chairman of Christ the King’s Board of Trustees.
“Over the past 50 years, we have been committed to offering our students a safe environment, an excellent education, a place to learn personal responsibility, an opportunity to build a strong body as well as a sharp mind, the challenge of competition in a first-class sports program, and a home that places a premium on spiritual growth.”
“We invite all Christ the King alumni from the last 50 years to join us in celebrating the Golden Jubilee weekend with us,” he added.
Tickets are on sale for $125 per person and include the dinner-dance on April 19; one ticket to any performance of CK Musical Theater Group’s production of “Beauty and the Beast;” and one ticket to the continental breakfast following the Mass on Sunday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at the school.
