Celebrations in Carroll Gardens


plaqueSacred Hearts-St. Stephen parish, Carroll Gardens, welcomed its new statue of St. John the Baptist that was commissioned by the Society of the Citizens of Pozzallo, located on Henry St. It is a replica of the statue in the town of Pozzallo located in Southern Sicily. The Mass and procession were celebrated by Msgr. Guy Massie, pastor, and two parish priest from Pozzallo, Fathers Salvatore Cerruto and Gaetano Colombo, who flew from Sicily for this occasion. The parish also dedicated a new plaque to all those emigrants who, for generations, have called the parish home and made it a place of faith and welcome. Hundreds gathered along with elected officials and clergy to dedicate the plaque that was commissioned by the members of the Van Westerhout Mola di Bari Club on Court St. The plaque was dedicated by the mayor of the town of Mola di Bari, Giangrazio Di Rutigliano.
