Team USA Hockey Star Fulfills Olympic Dream
Matt Gilroy, a 33-year-old defenseman, recently suited up as an assistant captain for Team U.S.A.’s men’s ice hockey team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This crowning achievement of his hockey career was even more special, since he wore his brother’s No. 97 on his back.

Our Lady of Grace, Howard Beach, hosted its fifth annual Invitational Indoor Soccer Tournament from January through the beginning of March at Aviator Sports Complex, Marine Park.
St. Joe’s Star Wins Top Rookie Honors
In her first season at St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, guard Kelly O’Donnell was named the Skyline Conference’s Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year.

Leary Left Lasting Legacy at St. Francis Prep
Tim Leary, who coached boys’ varsity basketball for 43 years at St. Francis Prep, Fresh Meadows, died Feb. 13 at the age of 73 after a nearly yearlong battle with gallbladder cancer.
