The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) hosted its third annual cheerleading showcase April 15 at Christ the King H.S., Middle Village. Cheer squads from the following parishes showcased their cheer and dance talents: St. Stan’s, Maspeth; St. Gregory the Great, Bellerose; St. Margaret, Middle Village; St. Luke, Whitestone; Sacred Heart, Glendale; Our Lady of the Snows, North Floral Park; and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Bayside. The Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament “Blue Lightning” took home the top award, while the Sacred Heart “Wildcats” won the CYO’s sportsmanship award.

The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) will once again be partnering with the New York Mets’ Future Stars Program to host an outing at Citi Field on Friday, May 18 at 7:10 p.m. as the Mets take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

All CYO participants will receive a free ticket to the game and will be able to march in their uniforms in a pregame parade on the field. With every additional ticket purchased for family members and friends, $10 will go back to the diocesan CYO program.
