As Holy Week began, we at DeSales Media, the parent group of The Tablet, participated in a personal account of the suffering and darkness of Good Friday followed by the joy of Resurrection on Easter Sunday as we pondered the death of our colleague, Kevin Cianciulli.
Sunday is Palm Sunday and it begins the holiest week of the Church’s year. Not only do we have the opportunities to attend the official liturgies of the Sacred Triduum – Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday – but in Brooklyn and Queens we are fortunate to have a number of extra-liturgical events that help us observe the Passion of the Lord.

There’s a full court press on to urge Catholics to make use of the confessional on Reconciliation Monday, April 10. It’s a tri-diocesan effort with the Archdiocese of New York joining with the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre in a massive public relations campaign.

Many with good intentions wait until Lent begins and then before you know it, half the season is over and we haven’t even begun preparing for Easter Sunday.
